Airbus has confirmed that Kazakhstan's flag carrier Air Astana has placed an order for 25 A320neo family aircraft, its largest ever order with the European manufacturer. The agreement was made on the 20th anniversary since Air Astana started operating its first A320 in 2006.
Air Astana has announced plans to launch a new service between Almaty and Shanghai, starting March 2026. The airline will operate three times weekly using Airbus A321LR aircraft.
Air Astana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for up to 50 A320neo family aircraft, comprising 25 firm orders and 25 purchase options. The package covers both A320neo and A321neo variants, with first deliveries scheduled from 2031.
Air Astana has completed its largest aircraft order with up to 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, finalized on February 17, 2026. The deal supports the airline's long-term growth strategy for operations from Central Asia and Caucasus to Asia, Europe, and beyond.
