The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has published a report recommending improvements to the Department of Defense's testing and evaluation process. The report outlines 13 recommendations for the DoD and services, including revising test and evaluation policies to reflect leading practices in product development.
The Pentagon has failed its eighth consecutive audit, restating its goal for a clean audit by 2028. The yearly audit identified 26 material weaknesses and two significant deficiencies in the department's controls for financial reporting in fiscal 2025.
The DoD is urging companies in the defense industrial base to start planning now for a 2027 mandate that their products be free of parts from certain Chinese companies. Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy Michael Cadenazzi warned companies connected to banned Chinese parts under Section 1268 to remove those connections and identify new suppliers.
