Lufthansa-owned Eurowings has appointed Max Kownatzki as its new CEO, following six years leading SunExpress. Meanwhile, Marcus Schnabel will take over as CEO of SunExpress, previously serving as Lufthansa Airlines' Head of Ground Operations in Munich.

Passengers on several outbound flights were forced to spend the night onboard aircraft at Munich Airport due to a ground staff strike. The airport had closed, and bus drivers had already gone home when their departures were cancelled.
