Moscow Develops Indigenous Satellite Communications System
Russia is accelerating the development of its Rassvet satellite constellation to replace Starlink, which was cut off in February due to illegal use. The Rassvet project aims to provide an indigenous communications network for military operations, civilian broadband, and remote regions. However, the project faces substantial technical and industrial hurdles, including satellite failures and limited production capacity. Ukraine is seeking to disrupt Rassvet through diplomatic pressure and military strikes, while Poland and Finland are developing a competing satellite communications system.
