Defense Agency Invests in Critical Nuclear Logistics IT Support
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency has awarded General Dynamics Information Technology a $16.6 million contract to continue supporting the computer systems used to track the U.S. military’s nuclear weapon stockpile. The contract covers the Defense Stockpile Management System, which houses the Defense Integration and Management of Nuclear Data Services (DIAMONDS). The system provides near real-time data on the stockpile and supports various roles, including managing the stockpile and providing nuclear weapons data to the president, Congress, and the Joint Staff. The contract was awarded as a sole-source deal and is scheduled to finish by Sept. 28, 2027, as reported by The Defence Blog.
