Advanced Air Traffic Management System Launched in D.C. Area
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Department of Transportation have launched a new artificial intelligence tool, Strategic Management of Airspace, Routing and Trajectories (SMART), in the Washington, D.C., area. The tool, which cost $875 million, is designed to predict flight delays and advise air traffic controllers. According to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, SMART will provide real-time flight data and weather conditions to recommend necessary flight path changes.
