UK Aviation Regulator Examines Air Traffic Management System Resilience
The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced the terms of reference for its independent review into the NATS technical incident on 8 September 2026, which caused disruption to over 2,000 flights. The review will examine the NATS report on the causes of disruption, assess the impact on consumers, and identify actions to strengthen confidence in the UK’s air traffic management system. The CAA will consider NATS’ strategy and plans for system modernisation, as well as lessons from international best practices.
