Australian Defence Contractor Advances Autonomous Systems Capabilities
BAE Systems Australia, in partnership with Canadian company TerraSense Analytics, has conducted field trials for an AI targeting system intended for the ATLAS uncrewed ground vehicle. The Automatic Target Detection, Tracking and Classification System, or ATTCS, demonstrated improved performance during the trials, despite initial issues with object tracking and false positives. The system is designed to provide passive target detection and tracking, as well as local situational awareness and detection of unmanned aircraft. According to Defence Industry Europe, the successful testing of this system may pave the way for further advancements in autonomous systems capabilities.
