Pentagon Rebuilds Missile Defense Stockpiles Amid Rising Demand
The US Department of War is moving to sharply increase production of Patriot and THAAD interceptors after rising global demand and recent combat use placed new pressure on missile-defense inventories. A series of agreements with Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin is intended to expand manufacturing capacity, remove supply-chain bottlenecks, and accelerate deliveries to the US military and its partners. The agreements are valued at $2 billion for PAC-3 MSE components and $1 billion for THAAD components. This expansion was first reported by Defence Industry Europe.
