TACOM Seeks Industry Help To Fix Legacy Platform Issues
The US Army is facing a readiness crisis due to supply chain woes affecting its legacy platforms, according to Brig. Gen. Beth Behn, commanding general of the Army’s Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM). To address the issue, TACOM plans to hold more engagements with industry, similar to a recent hackathon event that successfully found second sources for subcomponents of the Abrams’ AGT1500 engine. The Army is also working to improve communication with the Defense Logistics Agency to better manage repair parts. The efforts were discussed in an interview with Breaking Defense.
