US Space Force Reorganizes Acquisition Structure
The US Space Force has finalized a major reorganization of its acquisition structure, creating nine mission area-focused portfolio acquisition executives with broad authority over development and procurement programs. The move is part of the service’s plan to implement Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s acquisition reform agenda, which aims to reduce decision-making echelons and delegate more authority to acquisition experts. According to Air & Space Forces Magazine, the Space Force has already seen positive results from the acquisition reform efforts, with Air Force Secretary Troy Meink noting that the service has delegated 90 to 92 percent of contracting authorities to portfolio acquisition executives.
