City Urges Federal Government to Consider Canadian Content
The city council of Sault Ste. Marie has passed a resolution urging the federal government to consider the Algoma-Roshel partnership for defence procurement contracts, emphasizing the importance of maximizing Canadian content and domestic manufacturing capacity. The partnership, known as Roshel Algoma Defence Solutions, aims to establish a Canadian Centre of Excellence for Ballistic Steel Production and develop a sovereign domestic supply chain for defence-grade steel and armoured vehicle production. Roshel, a Canadian-owned defence manufacturer, is seeking to supply the Canadian Armed Forces through the Light Utility Vehicle and Domestic Arctic Mobility Enhancement procurement programs.
