South Korean Defense Company Enters US Market with Mobile Tactical Cannon
The US Army has awarded Hanwha Defense USA a contract worth up to $262.9 million to provide prototype 155mm self-propelled howitzers for its Mobile Tactical Cannon program. The K9 Mobile Howitzer, a wheeled variant of Hanwha’s K9 family, will undergo Army testing and soldier evaluation before a potential larger procurement. The program aims to replace some of the Army’s M777 towed howitzers with a more mobile and survivable artillery system. This development was first reported by Defense Security Monitor.
