European Union Reinforces Secure Connectivity Capabilities
The European Commission and the SpaceRISE consortium have signed an implementation agreement to roll out IRIS², the European Union’s new flagship satellite constellation. The programme, supported by the European Space Agency (ESA), aims to provide sovereign, secure, and highly reliable connectivity for European governments, defence and security forces, and emergency services. With a reinforced constellation of 348 satellites, IRIS² is expected to increase secure governmental capacity by 60% within the EU and 54% globally.
