Iron Horse Brigade Evaluates Next-Gen Combat Vehicles
The US Army’s Iron Horse brigade is preparing to test the new M1E3 Abrams tank and XM30 Infantry Fighting Vehicle prototypes, which promise to bring significant upgrades in lethality, survivability, and mobility. The M1E3 features a hybrid-electric engine, unmanned turret, and open systems architecture, while the XM30 offers increased lethality and a similar architecture. General Dynamics-Land Systems and American Rheinmetall will deliver prototypes to the brigade by the end of the year, with the Army potentially choosing a winner next spring.
