Portable Counter-Drone System To Support Urgent Defence Needs
The US Army has awarded L3Harris a $106 million contract for the Vehicle-Agnostic Modular Palletised ISR Rocket Equipment (VAMPIRE) counter-uncrewed systems. The VAMPIRE system is a portable, multi-mission precision-guided weapons platform designed to provide reconnaissance and strike capabilities against drones and remotely piloted aircraft. L3Harris has already accumulated over 350,000 operational hours with VAMPIRE technology in European combat operations. The contract is part of the US’ layered approach to defense against hostile drones, supporting what has been described as an ‘urgent defence’ need, according to Army Technology.
