Applied Atomics Targets Military Space Mobility With Proprietary Propulsion
UK-based startup Applied Atomics has raised $4 million in pre-seed funding and established a US presence in Virginia, as it seeks to carve out a position in the market for spacecraft mobility. The company’s multimode propulsion architecture combines chemical and electric propulsion within a single spacecraft, addressing a longstanding tradeoff in satellite propulsion. Applied Atomics plans to focus initially on spacecraft weighing roughly 300 kilograms, with target customers including the UK, US, and allied militaries.
