Government Watchdog Calls for Better Collaboration on Special Ops Programs
The Pentagon has agreed to implement recommendations from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to improve oversight of Special Operations Command (SOCOM) acquisition programs. The GAO found that the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict (ASD(SO/LIC)) shop lacked access to necessary program information and meetings, hindering its ability to conduct effective oversight. The recommendations aim to enhance collaboration between ASD(SO/LIC) and SOCOM, and to improve the accuracy and timeliness of program cost estimates. The GAO report was released by Breaking Defense.
