Seeking Technologies To Persistently Deny Adversary Airfield Use
NATO Allied Command Transformation and the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre have launched an innovation challenge seeking technologies that can persistently deny an adversary the use of its airfields. The challenge, with prize funding of up to €250,000, aims to find solutions that enable autonomous or operator-directed engagement of aircraft, runways, and ground support infrastructure. The challenge is technology-agnostic and open to various solutions, including uncrewed aerial systems and autonomous munitions. According to AeroTime, the challenge is driven by the need for more effective airfield denial capabilities, as existing options have shown limited effectiveness against defended airfield targets.
