Ultra-Efficient Commercial Aircraft Concepts For Mid-Century
NASA has previewed the results of 18-month studies conducted by industry and academia to identify technologies and concepts for ultra-efficient commercial aircraft. The studies, conducted under NASA’s Advanced Aircraft Concepts for Efficiency in Subsonic Transport (AACES) program, aim to develop aircraft that could enter service around the middle of the century. The five studies have explored various concepts and technologies, including hybrid-electric propulsion and advanced materials. According to Aviation Week, the results of the studies could lead to significant improvements in fuel efficiency and reductions in emissions.
