European Missile House Tackles Growing Drone Threat
MBDA has unveiled a novel hybrid system combining a high-energy laser with a missile interceptor to counter the growing threat of drones. The system, which pairs the DEWS-L laser with the DEFENDAIR guided missile, offers overlapping engagement envelopes and is specifically designed to neutralize close-range targets, including drone swarms. The development comes as militaries worldwide race to combat the threat of drones and missiles without breaking the bank. MBDA’s rollout of the system also aligns with the company’s push to develop and sustain German and European deep precision strike capabilities. This was first reported by Breaking Defense.
