Franco German Spanish Partnership Fails To Deliver Next Gen Fighter
The Future Combat Air System (FCAS) program, a flagship initiative between France, Germany, and Spain to develop a next-generation fighter jet, has reportedly collapsed due to disagreements between Dassault and Airbus. The program, valued at €100 billion, aimed to replace the countries’ Eurofighter and Rafale aircraft starting from 2040. Despite efforts to mediate, the industrial partners failed to reach an agreement, leading to the program’s termination. The German government has proposed continuing joint development of the combat cloud communication network, a key component of the FCAS system. This development was first reported by Breaking Defense.
