Crack Risk Prompts Urgent Inspections for AW169 and S-76 Operators
Canada’s aviation regulator has issued an emergency airworthiness directive to address possible cracks in Pratt & Whitney Canada PW210 turboshafts that power Leonardo Helicopters AW169s and Sikorsky S-76s. The directive sets deadlines for operators to complete visual inspections for turbine exhaust frame cracks, which can lead to engine failures. P&WC had previously published a service bulletin addressing the issue. The emergency order was reported by FlightGlobal.
