Textron Aviation Supports USDA's Aerial Pest Management Program
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has ordered three Cessna Caravan aircraft to support its sterile insect release program, aimed at protecting citrus crops in southern Texas. The new aircraft, expected to be delivered in 2027, will be equipped with custom release systems to safely distribute sterile insects. This initiative is part of the USDA’s efforts to prevent the spread of destructive pests and reduce crop damage. According to Cessna, a Textron Aviation company, the Cessna Caravan is well-suited for aerial application missions due to its payload capacity, reliability, and ability to operate in remote environments. This announcement was first reported by Cessna.
