US Urges India To Act In Self Interest Amid China Buildup
US war secretary Pete Hegseth has praised India’s defence manufacturing capabilities and called the country a critical anchor in the Indo-Pacific region. Hegseth urged India to act in its own self-interest and increase its defence spending to 3.5% of GDP, citing the need to maintain a balance of power in the region. He also highlighted the potential for joint production initiatives between the US and India, including co-production of Javelin anti-tank guided munitions. The comments were made at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, as reported by Hindustan Times.
