SpaceX Wins Major Military Space Data Network Deal
The US Space Force has awarded SpaceX a $2.29 billion contract to build a secure, high-speed satellite communications network. The Space Data Network (SDN) Backbone will provide high-capacity and low-latency data transport for the military, connecting sensors and weapons platforms across the globe. The network is expected to play a critical role in the Trump administration’s Golden Dome missile defense initiative. According to Reuters, the Space Force plans to identify additional contractors for satellite construction and other network elements over the summer.
