Kyiv Seeks To Legalize Foreign Weapons Sales And Boost Defense Industry
Ukraine is making its first real push to legalize foreign weapons sales since 2022, with a procurement memo with the US and several signed contracts. The country has built an arms industry that manufactures much of the hardware seen on the battlefield, but it has struggled to scale up due to export bans and funding limitations. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a new framework, dubbed ‘Drone Deals,’ which permits five export categories and opens three legal channels for producers. This development was first reported by Defense News.
