Stockholm Picks Naval Group Over British Swedish Bid
Sweden has announced plans to order four FDI frigates from French manufacturer Naval Group, marking a significant shift in the country’s naval capabilities. The decision follows recommendations from the Swedish Navy and the Defense Materiel Administration, which identified the French alternative as the best fit for Sweden’s requirements. The FDI frigates will feature advanced air defense systems, including the MBDA Aster 30 long-range air defense system, and are expected to be delivered starting in 2030.
