Spirit Airlines, a US ultra-low-cost carrier, has ceased all operations with immediate effect, following a period of financial difficulties. The airline’s last commercial flight operated on May 1-2, 2026, and other US airlines, such as United Airlines, American Airlines, and JetBlue, have announced plans to help stranded passengers. According to AeroTime, Spirit Airlines had an all-Airbus fleet of 148 aircraft and had been the subject of several acquisition attempts in recent years.
