Space-Based Satellites To Track Airborne Threats Globally
The US Space Force has awarded SpaceX a $4.16 billion contract to develop a satellite constellation that can track and target airborne threats globally. The system, known as the Space-Based Airborne Moving Target Indicator (SB-AMTI) program, aims to provide the military with sustained battlespace awareness of contested airspace. The contract is part of a broader effort to enhance the military’s tracking capabilities, and SpaceX is the first of nine companies to be awarded a contract under the program. The development was first reported by Space.com.
