Guarding Critical Infrastructure in Orbit Requires International Cooperation
As space exploration and satellite technology become increasingly integral to modern life, the need for protection and international cooperation in space security grows. The authors propose an Artemis Alliance, a military-backed alliance in space, to safeguard critical infrastructure and promote coordination and deterrence among nations. This alliance would build on existing international agreements, such as the Outer Space Treaty and the Artemis Accords, and would require sustained U.S. leadership and cooperation with private sector entities. The initiative was discussed in an opinion piece published in Newsweek.
