Historic Mission-Level Partnership Expands Space Science Exploration
The Solar Wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer (SMILE) satellite, a joint project between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the European Space Agency, has been successfully launched on the Vega-C launch vehicle. The satellite will employ new X-ray imaging technology to study the interactions between the solar wind and Earth’s magnetosphere, providing crucial insights into the sun-Earth coupled system. This mission marks a new breakthrough in China-Europe aerospace cooperation and was reported by the Global Times.
