Major Fighter Jet Export Deal Could Be Finalized Amid Ongoing Talks
Saab is exploring ways to expand its Gripen production rates, with a major deal for up to 150 aircraft with Ukraine potentially being finalized this year. According to Saab CEO Micael Johansson, while an agreement typically takes a few months, he hopes it will be completed this year. The deal could include the export of 100 to 150 Gripen E jets, following a long-term letter of intent signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Swedish government in October. However, Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson noted that financing and production capacity remain challenges to be resolved. This development was first reported by Breaking Defense.
