NASA Mission Provides High-Resolution View Of Martian Ice Cap
NASA’s Psyche spacecraft has captured a high-resolution image of Mars’ south polar cap, providing unprecedented detail of the water ice-rich region. The image was taken during a gravity assist maneuver on May 15, 2026, and has a scale of around 0.7 miles per pixel. With Mars now behind it, the Psyche spacecraft will resume its journey to the asteroid belt, where it will enter orbit around the metal-rich asteroid Psyche in August 2029. This mission was reported by NASA Science.
