NATO Activates Baltic Air Policing Amid Rising Tensions
Lithuania and Latvia activated mobile air danger warnings in their eastern districts after military radar detected tracks with characteristics of unmanned aircraft near the two countries’ borders. The alerts covered areas along the borders with Belarus and Russia, with NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission being activated in response. The Lithuanian Armed Forces monitored a ‘radar mark’ with features typical of UAVs, while Latvia warned of a ‘possible threat in Latvian airspace’. The alerts were lifted after approximately 40 minutes, with no official confirmation of a drone entering the airspace of either country. This incident was reported by AeroTime.
