Aerospace Lab Demonstrates Adaptive Trailing Edge Control
German aerospace researchers have successfully tested a shape-shifting wing concept on an uncrewed aerial vehicle, using artificial intelligence to control the trailing edge. The MorphAIR project, led by the DLR research centre, aims to optimize aerodynamics and reduce drag. The experimental Proteus aircraft was fitted with a morphing wing, which was tested at a facility in Cochstedt. According to FlightGlobal, the test flights have demonstrated airworthiness and system integration, paving the way for further projects.
