Generative Tool Cuts Design Cycle From Months To Seconds
GE Aerospace has successfully used a custom generative AI application to design a hypersonic dual-mode ramjet, reducing the design cycle from months to seconds. The company’s researchers ran the tool against multiple flight conditions and customer requirements, generating hundreds of candidate design layouts in a single session. While GE Aerospace did not release technical details or commit to a hardware path, the exercise demonstrates the potential of AI in compressing engine design cycles. The work was led by Joe Vinciquerra, General Manager and Senior Executive Director at GE Aerospace Research, and the same tooling is being applied to the CFM International RISE program, as reported by AeroTime.
