East African Carrier Expands Long Haul And Regional Fleets
Ethiopian Airlines is reportedly considering an order for additional Airbus aircraft, including six A350 widebody and up to 20 A220 narrowbody planes, to enhance its long-haul and regional fleets. The East African carrier has been a long-time operator of the A350-900 and has recently exercised options to purchase Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. These investments align with Ethiopian Airlines’ plans to become a major global connector, including its direct investment in the new Bishoftu International Airport. The potential deal was first reported by media outlets such as Bloomberg and Business Insider Africa, and AeroTime has reached out to Ethiopian Airlines for comment.
