Ottawa Selects Swedish Company As Preferred Supplier For Airborne Early Warning
Canada has entered into negotiations with Saab for the procurement of the GlobalEye airborne early warning and control aircraft, with the Swedish company selected as the preferred supplier for the country’s future AEW&C capability program. The announcement was made by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at CANSEC, the country’s flagship defense trade show. Saab has offered to build, maintain, and upgrade the Canadian GlobalEyes with a team of Canadian partners, aiming to transfer knowledge and technology to Canada. The proposal is based on the Canadian-made Bombardier Global 6500 aircraft, combined with Saab’s extended-range radar and advanced sensors. The deal was first reported by Breaking Defense.
