Establishing Sovereign Defence Industrial Base Through Local Manufacturing
Australia has selected Northrop Grumman to establish a solid rocket motor manufacturing industrial base in the country, with an initial investment of AU$126.9 million. The program aims to integrate Australian suppliers into the production line, ensuring the country benefits from access to the company’s propulsion technology while establishing a sovereign manufacturing base onshore. The initiative is part of Australia’s efforts to strengthen its defence industrial base, with the goal of producing solid rocket motors for the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) by 2030.
