Blue Whale Size Space Rock to Pass Within 56,000 Miles
A newly discovered asteroid, 2026 JH2, is expected to fly close to Earth on Monday, passing within 56,000 miles of the planet’s surface. The asteroid, which is up to 115 feet wide, was discovered on May 10 by astronomers at the Mount Lemmon Observatory in Arizona. According to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the asteroid has an elliptical orbit that takes it as far out as Jupiter. The close approach will be visible to stargazers and can be viewed via livestream, as reported by Live Science.
