New Office To Integrate Drones And Robots Into Mission Packages
The US Army has established the Capability Program Executive Office for Mission Autonomy to integrate all unmanned operations, from drones to robots, into ‘packages of capability’ that can be tasked by commanders. The new office, led by Brig. Gen. Anthony Gibbs, will focus on developing autonomy packages in areas such as combat engineering, fires, and logistics. The goal is to enable commanders to task these packages like manned formations, with the ability to interpret commander’s intent, plan, execute, and adjust as battlefield conditions change.
