AirAsia Expands Fleet With Largest A220 Order To Date
AirAsia has placed a firm order for 150 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, valued at approximately $19 billion at list prices. The deal marks the largest single order for the A220 program and gives Airbus a significant new customer in Asia. The aircraft will be assembled at Airbus’ facility in Mirabel, Quebec, and will support AirAsia’s future network development by allowing it to open new routes and serve markets that do not require larger narrowbody aircraft. According to AeroTime, the order is a major win for the Mirabel production line and reinforces Québec’s role in commercial aircraft production.
