Troubled Tanker Sees Price Hike Amid Readiness Efforts
The Air Force is working to improve the readiness of its KC-46 Pegasus tanker fleet, with an updated vision system expected to be ready in early 2028. The service is pursuing a three-pronged plan to revamp the fleet, including repurposing earlier aircraft and implementing a temporary logistics agreement. Despite these efforts, lawmakers are questioning a projected price hike of approximately $100 million per unit, with the gross unit price potentially reaching $334 million in FY28.
