VietJet Commits to COMAC C909 with Lease for 10 Aircraft

Vietnamese Carrier Expands Fleet with Chinese Narrowbody Jets

VietJet has signed a lease agreement to acquire 10 COMAC C909 aircraft, marking a significant expansion of its fleet with the Chinese-made narrowbody. The lease contract was agreed with SPDB Financial Leasing, a subsidiary of Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, during a state visit by Vietnam’s President To Lam to China. VietJet aims to introduce the COMAC aircraft into operations on routes connecting Vietnam and China, and has also announced five new routes between the two countries. The airline’s commitment to the C909 follows a brief pause in operations due to costs associated with foreign crews and maintenance services. This development was first reported by AeroTime.
