Honeywell To Adapt Compact Engine For Autonomous Aircraft
The US Air Force has awarded a prototype contract to Honeywell for a small engine to be used on its autonomous drone wingmen. The company will adapt its existing SkyShot 1600 engine to fit unmanned aircraft in the Air Force’s Collaborate Combat Aircraft program. The SkyShot engine is designed for use in autonomous aircraft and delivers powerful thrust capability with either turbofan or turbojet propulsion. This development was reported by Defense News.
