Bern Freezes Payments Over Uncertain Timelines For Air Defense Systems
Switzerland is deliberating over whether to cancel its long-delayed Patriot air defense system order due to uncertain delivery timelines from the US. The country has frozen payments for the system, citing significant alterations to the contractual basis of the acquisition. The Patriot order is linked to other Foreign Military Sale agreements, including a $7.5 billion order for F-35A fighter jets and spare parts for Swiss F/A-18 fighters. The situation was first reported by Breaking Defense.
