Space Force Awards $1.84B Contract for Andromeda Program

New Space Monitoring Satellites To Replace Aging GSSAP Constellation

The Space Force has established a $1.84 billion contract vehicle for the Andromeda program, aiming to replace the aging Geosynchronous Space Situational Awareness Program (GSSAP) constellation with commercial space monitoring satellites. The first task order under this indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract will procure new satellites to enhance the service’s space situational awareness capabilities. The Andromeda program, formerly known as RG-XX, seeks to improve upon the limited maneuver capabilities of the current GSSAP satellites. According to Breaking Defense, the Space Force has selected 14 vendors to compete for contracts under this program.
