SMBC Aviation Capital and partner investors have completed the acquisition of Air Lease Corporation, renaming it Sumisho Air Lease Corporation. The $28.2 billion transaction, which includes the assumption of Air Lease’s debt, marks a significant development in the aircraft leasing industry. With the backing of major investors, including Sumitomo Corporation, Apollo, and Brookfield, Sumisho Air Lease aims to enhance its investment in new-tech and environmentally friendly aircraft, as well as bolster its financing capabilities.
