German Armed Forces Invest In Autonomous Reconnaissance And Strike Drones
Rheinmetall has secured a multibillion-dollar framework contract with the German armed forces for an undisclosed number of FV-014 loitering munitions. The first call-off contract is valued at €300 million ($351 million), with deliveries set to begin in the first half of 2027. The FV-014 is equipped with a 6 kg High-Explosive Dual Purpose warhead and can reach a range of up to 100 kilometers. The contract signing follows a demonstration of the FV-014 in collaboration with a potential NATO customer. The German Ministry of Defence has also commissioned a third loitering munition supplier to provide systems to the 45th Panzer Brigade in Lithuania, as reported by Breaking Defense.
